Who was Taira no Masakado?
About 1,000 years ago, Masakado was a powerful Japanese warrior who challenged the central government and declared himself the "New Emperor."
In the Kanto region, he is remembered as a local hero and worshipped as a deity. Yet he was also feared as a rebel and later became known as one of Japan's "Three Great Vengeful Spirits."

MASAKADO SENBEI is located in Bando City, Ibaraki, a region deeply connected to Masakado. For over 100 years, we have made traditional Japanese rice crackers here under his name.
